RESP 2599 - Respiratory Care Review

This course is a review of respiratory care in preparation for the National Board for Respiratory Care Entry Level Examination, Written Registry Examination, and the Clinical Simulation Examination. The student will become familiar with the NBRC Examination Matrix and testing format for each of the national examinations. In order to successfully complete the course requirements, the student will be required to successfully complete, (based upon the minimum passing limit, MPL), and Entry Level Staff Assessment Examination produced by the NBRC. 1. Complete a comprehensive review of all advanced

level practitioner equipment and procedures

Weekly pre- and post- tests, weeks 1-11.
2. Complete a competency skills test The student will pass each section of the Competency skills test with a 77% Week 15.

3. Prepare him/herself for the NBRC advance

practitioner examinations, (registry written and

clinical simulation examination)

  • The student will complete 10 clinical simulations examinations (from the course textbook) with successful MPL for both information gathering and decision making. Weeks 1-10.
  • The student will complete an NBRC Registry Written Self-Assessment Examination with the Minimum Passing Level (MPL) determined by the NBRC (Date TBA, will follow Kettering Review Seminar second half of the semester)
  • The student will complete an NBRC Clinical Simulation Self-Assessment Examination with the MPL determined by the NBRC (Date TBA, will follow Kettering Review Seminar second half of the semester
