This course provides a strong understanding of the legal, ethical, and societal implications of information technology. Updated to cover the latest technological developments, this edition examines issues associated with the professional code of ethics, cyberattacks and cybersecurity, security risk assessment, privacy, electronic surveillance, freedom of expression, censorship, protection and infringement of intellectual property, development of high-quality software systems, the impact of IT on society, social networking, and the ethics of IT corporations. 1. Identify the basic concepts and methods of several approaches to ethics and to see how these may be used to think about moral problems connected to information technology.

2. Differentiate between laws and ethics.

3. Identify major national laws that affect the practice of information security.

4. Explain the role of culture as it applies to ethics in information security.

5. Address ethical and moral issues connected to information technology issues using rational, coherent, consistent and symmetric approach.
