This course focuses on the management of private investigation, sources of information, investigative technology, and ethical and public policy considerations related to the field of private security. An overview of school and campus security, hospital security, contract security, proprietary security, retail security, and corporate security will be presented. Students will also receive certification for basic first aid and CPR. UG

1. Illustrate specific procedures needed and problems encountered in regards to industrial, retail, corporate,and institutional (school, campus, hospital) security.

Retail security lab, chapter assignments, practical exercises, exam weeks 4-6 and weeks 10-12

2. Conduct an analysis of how computers,communications, and public relations affect the world of private security.

10. The student will be able to:

a. Correctly perform obstructed airway corrective procedures

b. Correctly perform basic cardiac life support/cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) corrective procedures in the

c. Properly demonstrate the use of the pocket mask in applying rescue breathing/CPR to an adult victim.

Performance evaluations, CPR Certification Exam – during weeks 12-16

11. The student will be able to:

a. Correctly perform a primary trauma survey.

b. Correctly perform a secondary trauma survey.

c. Successfully demonstrate the control of severe bleeding using direct pressure using a compress while wearing protective gloves.

d. Demonstrate a simple bandage wrap using gauze compress and bandage on any tapered body partwhile wearing protective gloves.
